The Serious Game Rapid Co-Design Workflow is a research-informed methodology for effective interdisciplinary collaboration on the design of serious games and game-based learning approaches. It is a visual, structured guidance tool to support design activities, available as an interactive online whiteboard or pdf document for printing.
Games for serious purposes are inherently interdisciplinary. The focus of this workflow is on co-design between experts from different disciplines, however it can also be used by a single individual to assist or verify serious game design.
This process was designed and developed by Daisy Abbott through collaboration with Olga Chatzifoti and teams on the Agents of Change Toolkit (https://www.agentsofchangetoolkit.org/) and SECRIOUS (https://secrious.github.io/) research projects. The workflow draws on Daisy Abbott's previous work as well as Triadic Game Design (Harteveld, 2011), and also uses helpful resources from a range of other publications on how to design good serious games.
