Abstract: | Publication of Works as part of the ‘Dispatches to the Front Lines Project' The works published consider the geographical and auditory landscape of war following the invasion to Ukraine by forces of the Russian Federation on the 24th of February 2022. Utilizing a military transceiver, signals were intercepted from high ground in Scotland, Italy, Greece, Switzerland and Serbia following the initial invasion. All relevant military and civilian frequencies were monitored for activity in the Shortwave Spectrum and on each site a single image was made. The photograph is a document of a site that was reached by the military transmissions and presents both an encampment as well as a place for long-distance observation of tensions that are beyond the camera’s field of view. Each photograph is an attempt to comment and respond to ongoing strife that is invisible but catalytic. There are 365 images in the series to mark the first year of war. The series, like the war in Ukraine is ongoing. | ||||||
