Abstract: | ‘Silk Town’ is an observational video work that investigates the notion of lost crafts and traditions in the town of Soufli in Greece. During the course of one week, I walked in the now barren spaces where sericulture was once a prominent trade and craft. Through a series of three interviews, the project aims to propose questions regarding the position of women in a long lineage that once supplied the weavers with primary material. The Research project was supported by Trades House Glasgow. The piece considers both the voice of women in equal measures to the voices of the landscape that surround them. | ||||
