Abstract: | The project investigates the ontology of photography. By combining reversed large-format negatives 5x4 inches in dimension of fictional places with plates of solid sterling silver, and by tracing photographs on glass using a custom diamond cutter, the photographic presence is put into question. Fictional landscapes are generated using software for military applications, creating a land (terra) that is both unknown (incognitta) and also non-existent (nullius). After the generation of new land, images are made using a traditional camera, making negatives for non-existent land. Practice-based research project comprised of following artifacts: 30 images of fictional landscapes on solid sterling silver plates 5x4 inches in dimension | ||||
