The project deals with the residue of the Battle of Culloden on the 16th of April. With the generous help of a Research Development fund received from the Glasgow School of Art and permission granted by the National Trust of Scotland, I was able to travel to Culloden and stay for 7 days in Culloden. The body of work produced there deals with the crushing silence that remains on the battlefield following one of the bloodiest and shortest battles in history, and the final one that was fought on British soil. The main output of the project comprises of a series of 45 pictures. These pictures are reversed photographic negatives superimposed on solid sterling silver 20 x 24 inches in dimension. With the passage of time these pictures will slowly tarnish and turn black, They will turn silent as the collective memory of the battle has done before. Additional outputs include a sound sculpture of the duration of 59 minutes (mirroring the duration of the battle) and also a sculptural piece comprised of the replica 53 swords made from steel.
