Additional Information: | 1. Research Question The interior monologue that generates a fictional narrative for the landscape I pass through, on my daily walks with the dog, comes with its own imaginary soundtrack. This is something I’m aware of, but never hear. Can I re/create this in a real, shareable form? As the whole conceit is fairly solipsistic, will anything emerge from the exercise that holds meaning for anyone else? 2. Methods A Casio FZ1 sampling synthesiser was selected for the particular timbre of its choral sounds, which can hover between the mournful and the pathetic. Bass drones and rhythms were created, with the left hand, whilst the right hand responded with top line harmonies and melodies. The sound was fed through a digital delay, for additional rhythmic movement, and reverb for the illusion of vast space. 3. Context of Contribution ‘Music from the film Aguirre’ by Popol Vuh. PDU, 1975 ‘Solaris’ (1972), ‘Mirror’ (1975), ‘Stalker’ (1979) OSTs by Eduard Artemyev. | ||||
