Abstract:

Expedition to the small town of Soufli, nestled in the Northern Region of Greece, to delve into the rich history of serigraphy and unravel the intricate story of silk. A town of major significance as hub of the Silk Road, Soufli also played an important part in serigraphy and silk production in the beginning of the 19th century. Recently re-discovered and deemed as culturally significant, this research output recounts the history of serigraphy and considers the historical and socio-economic context that surrounds politically contested territories and the communities that are disrupted by socio-economic and geopolitical shifts and resist them.
