SOLID OBJECTS
Year - 1992
Tryptich
Medium - C-Type photographic Prints
Size - 19x35cm
When on the MA, 1990–1992, I was interested in the idea of the fragment, and in the personal and lyrical narratives that might be evoked from found objects. I didn't clearly articulate an interest in landscape at this time, although I often found myself on remote beaches collecting shards of broken pottery, photographing, documenting, and re-presenting them in a quasi-museological context.

REMOTENESS IS A MEDIUM OF CLARIFICATION
Year: 2018
Medium: unique platinum print
Size: 59 x 20 cm
This is one of two photographic text based platinum prints (with the words "remoteness is a medium of clarification", and "nightfall daybreak") exposed by the light of the sun (platinum printing is an early, antique photographic process). These are photographic objects that are literally made in the field, touched by sunlight, and relate to a body of works that explore light and dark and the sensualities of dusk, and to the experiences of being in wild spaces in landscape.
