Abstract: | The paper considers the role of photography in the era of the moving image, in particular how still photography informed and influenced video art and how the moving image in turn changed the perception of time of the viewer. By examining the history of video art and film the paper proposes the thesis that there is an interlinking in both content and form between the still and the moving image. The paper was developed from a series of lectures in the Fine Art Photography Department of The Glasgow School of Art Titles of the lectures and date of delivery: ‘Video Art’ for Year 3 FAP (05/SEP/2011) | ||||
