Research Profile
Mafalda Moreira, is a design educator and researcher at the Innovation School from the Glasgow School of Art. With a PhD in Design Innovation from the Glasgow School of Art (graduating in June 2018), an MSc in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship from the Engineering Faculty of Porto University, and a degree in Interior Design from ESAD-Escola Superior de Artes e Design (Matosinhos, Portugal).
Her professional background is international as an entrepreneur and consultant in the creative industries, adult education, and HE in design. At the Innovation School, Mafalda is a lecturer of Core Research Methods, specialist tutor for Collaborative Creativity, studio tutor, and Academic Lead for the MDes in Design Innovation.
As a Post-Doctoral Early Career Researcher, Mafalda is seeking to collaborate with other researchers and build her research expertise in bridging the fields of design innovation and education. Mafalda’s research interests and focus include pedagogical methods applied to the teaching of social design innovation which bridge and borrow knowledge from other disciplines, and explore visual and embodied forms of learning. Informing her research are aspects of positionality, intersectionality, collaborative creativity, applied ethics, social complexity, and cultural sensitivity, to name a few.
