Abstract: | 27 September—5 October 2024 Group exhibition by Hypha Art Collective as part of Middlesbrough Art Weekender, 2024. 'Interlaced' is the second exhibition that brings together the practices of the 13 artists that currently form Hypha. The exhibition coincided with Middlesbrough Art Weekender and a talk at MIMA with invited curators Becky Gee and Natalie Rudd on 28th September, joining the collective to reflect on the exhibition Interlaced, unpicking themes that emerge across the work and discuss the importance of artists building their own communities. Hypha is a collective of women artists and curators based in the North East who have come together to build a supportive, generous, and critically engaged community. Drawing from histories of women identifying collectives, the group is interested in the relationship between intergenerational / career-level support and creative output, considering collaboration over competition, and the ways in which the collective can inspire, elevate, and hold significance for the future. Gathering work together in a shared space represents a tangible action. It opens up a conversation between practices that reveals relationships and divergences between materials, processes, subject matter, and structures of support. As part of the co-curated group exhibition, Rosie Morris exhibited the first of her 'nest' series of lithographic prints: Sweetie (nest), Lithograph on Somerset Satin, 7.5 x 11 ⅜ inches / 19.2 x 28.7cm, Edition of 50, Printed at Hole Editions, 2024 | ||||
