Abstract: | An artist publication created especially for the medium of thermal printing, starring two protagonists, Surface and Scar, who reckon with the meaning they struggle to co/create. These little scrolls are produced using an inkless printing technology commonly used in printing receipts: the chemically treated paper changes to black wherever heat is administered. Inspired by Thermal House Publishing while on residency at Footnote Centre for Image and Text in Belgrade, this publication became a meditation on writing, the heat death of the universe, and the battle between Concreteness and Potential. Published by Thermal House Publishing in July 2023 at Footnote Centre for Image and Text, Belgrade, Serbia.

Additional Information: | This artwork explored some conceptual possibilities that the thermal printmaking technology can uniquely provide in art-making. In particular, it explored how printmaking can become performative once the heating/cooling involved in its "becoming" is established as a factor in the reading of the work
