Abstract: | Correspondence from Queens Park Railway Club to the artists: “We’re writing to ask if you would like take part in a group exhibition at Queen’s Park Railway Club, titled ‘Love on the Dole’. The opening evening will be on Valentine’s Day and the public will also be welcome to view the work the following weekend. The project is unfunded and for this reason we are unable to have the space open for a longer run. We think it’s important to try to keep things going during the current economic crisis. Please feel free to respond to the title of the show or to all things love and Valentine’s in any way you please. Many thanks Patrick and Ellis” ‘Love on the Dole’ is the title of a 1933 novel by Walter Greenwood, which takes place around the time of the General Strike of 1926 focussing on the struggles of a community in the north of England. Currently the arts and society as a whole, face uncertain times, but love will prevail.
