Abstract: | A Plot, Hatched By Two Yorktown Workshops London February 23 - 27, 2022 Gallery Text Small exchanges in conversation, shared contemplation. Quietly following, trusting that something else will arrive en route, along the journey, fragments arise to plot a new direction. The emergence of a joint thought and the release of two energies. “Desire, when reciprocal, is a plot, hatched by two, in the face of, or in defiance of, all the other plots which determine the world. It is a conspiracy of two.” - John Berger, Another Side of Desire Participating artists are Sophie Birch, Sayan Chanda, Yun Ling Chen, Alfredo Cristiano, Oliver Guyon, Mariella Hall, Aimée Henderson, Maxine Keenan, Jörg Kratz, Mary Laube, Graham Lister, Gerald Mak, Richard Matthews, Ed Oaks, Matthew Richardson, Wade Schuster, Bryce Speed, Mark Stebbins, Erika Trotzig and Harry Whitelock __ An exhibition curated by established international curator Warbling (Robyn Graham). Two paintings were selected from my recent works – and these represented part of ongoing painting research into how abstract fragments and fragmented activities/ actions can be visualised. This exhibition featured a roster of well-respected international artists – each of whom focused, in various ways, on using painting and sculpture to test out new ideas and directions. Of particular note here, with regard to my own research, the idea of connecting disparate elements to test out new networks of interconnection and visual conversations was of paramount importance. |
