Ivory Tars are pleased to present 'Jeremy Moon: 15/73', an exhibition organised in conjunction with A-M-G5.

Jeremy Moon was a painter based in London during the 1960s, who came to attention for his use of hard-edge abstraction and eccentrically shaped canvases. His untimely death in 1973, aged 39, would cut short an artistic practice still in development. This exhibition will present 15/73, the last painting Moon would complete, alongside a series of working drawings, related studies and other ephemera. This material, on loan from an archive held by the artist’s estate, provides an insight into Moon’s working methods, as well as pointing to a series of paintings that would sadly remain unrealised.

A selection of preparatory drawings suggest several avenues of enquiry Moon may have explored in his subsequent work. Another subject this exhibition explores is the contextual information relevant to the interpretation of a painting as resolutely abstract as 15/73. This presentation looks to situate this canvas in relation to the biographical conditions in which it was made, and to trace the history of its public display after Moon’s passing.
