Abstract: | Forthcoming publication, for which funding was received to engage in research and development in Orkney (in April and May 2020); however, this trip has been postponed. The book uses narrative prose and poetry via the first-person perspective of the female protagonist. Inspired by landscapes and folklore in Orkney and the Western Highlands, as well as the raven as ‘trickster’ from the Haida culture in British Columbia, Canada, the narrative explores issues of memory, belonging, language and changing subjectivities. Interest has been expressed from publishers, including: Saraband, Cranachan and Luath Press. I was commissioned as Artist-in-Residence for Enough! Scotland (artists’ collective) for research and development of forthcoming book (see above), November 2019-present. As part of this residency, we are also producing a zine and digital zine (as yet untitled). This includes my poetry, photos and sound files. (Please note that the fields below relate to the zine, and not to the book. The latter is still being written, but interest from publishers has been expressed.) | ||||
