Abstract: | A poetry book comprising the work of three poets, myself being one, with a significant contribution of about 20 pages per poet. My poems explore the materiality of the human body, issues of subjectivity, national belonging, memory, landscape, and religious belief/doubt. They shift between place and belonging/longing, with memories of camping in British Columbia, Canada and phenomenological details of walks in the Scottish Highlands. Some poems draw upon bird imagery, including invoking the raven as ‘trickster’ from indigenous folklore from Haida Gwaii in British Columbia (formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands). Details of Orkney, where I worked as George Mackay Brown Writing Fellow, also have a presence in the poems. | ||||||
