In September 1995, whilst on the MFA at Glasgow School of Art, I went to the Art Institute of Chicago on a 4mt exchange. One of the first things I was given on arrival in Chicago was a street map of the city. One of the few things I had with me from home was a copy of the Irish News newspaper, dated Saturday September 2nd 1995. Cutting the map out of the front page of the newspaper, 'Between Here and There' was the first work I made during this period.

SCOTLAND AT MY TOES, ENGLAND AT THE TIPS OF MY FINGERS is the third in an ongoing series of actions created for and in response to specific locations on the edges of Europe; places with complicated historical, geographic and political landscape identities. On 31stJanuary 2020 I marked what was Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland’s last day in the European Union, by sitting on the Scottish / English border at Scots’ Dike.
