Abstract:

This piece compares the architectural evolution of living accommodations in Edinburgh and Venice, as the development of both cities was influenced by their location, their communities' activities, and their political circumstances. The Scottish tenement in particular is compared to similar high-rise buildings in Venice, and their development over time in these two locations is compared and discussed.
