Abstract: | I was invited by Dr Vanessa Corby to be a roundtable discussant and panel chair for the session 'Drawing and Anthropology' at the Drawing Matters symposium held at York St John University in 2017. For the roundtable discussion I give a short talk entitled 'Out Into the World: Drawing and the Ethnographic Moment' which asked how anthropology can help frame the potential of drawing as a method of creating an encounter between different groups of people and from this, how we might articulate that encounter. The aim was to shift slightly from a consideration of the process of drawing – and what it offers – to their potential as forms of representation, that is knowledge. | ||||
