This film was shot by Art Review magazine on the occasion of my second solo exhibition at Laurent Delaye Gallery, London, 2011. Glenn Brown, Keith Tyson and myself opted to present Glenn Brown's pre-prepared questions in a symposium style to the assembled audience. My paintings were featured in situ in the film throughout. The running time is 64.28 mins.

The three speakers spoke at length about art school experiences, the redundancy of the gesture in painting and the digital screen. The conversation was intended as a positive exploration of painting's possibilities in the face of an ever decreasing interest in post modern criticality and a return not to the values of modernism but as a re-invention of modernist formalism with a post modern sensibility in name only.

In particular, the artists described their practices as an ongoing investigation into the expressive power of painting whilst simultaneously questioning that very expression. This complex approach asked for the audience to recognise that painting inter-related many different experiences such as the ontological relation to material with the abundance of disembodied media and screen images prevalent in the 21st century; that painting bodily acts in a different time scale and making zone to speedily consumed screen images.
