How does temporal change of typographic forms impact people's perception, and the attention which they pay to emergent typographic information. It is known that emotive responses affect the reader's experience of information acquisition, and potentially the way in which text contents are remembered. But what exactly constitutes motion in relation to time-based typography? How do rhythmic changes motivate the perception process, and how does the transition process affect the semantic connotations attached to typographic information? This article provides an easy-to-read overview over the characteristics of time-based typography, and motivates reflections on how these can be deployed to enhance multi-media communication.
