Abstract:

The remaking of the Gorbals in the work of artists and architects, with particular respect to the Crown Street regeneration programme. The Gorbals seems to occupy a special place in the history and indeed the very notion of 'Glasgow'. Why is that, and what do architects and artists do with that 'privileged' status? In what way do they deal with the emblematic glaswegianess of the Gorbals?
