Taking place over two venues in London, PEER and Large Glass, 'Out of Nowhere' was a two-person exhibition featuring the work of Jeremy Moon alongside my own. Being paired with an abstract painter who rose to prominence in the 1960s presented a series of difficulties, and it was these that my contribution to the show aimed to reflexively articulate.

The exhibition in PEER featured a number of restored paintings by Moon, which I supplemented by writing and presenting in the gallery space a short text on Moon. This display was also accompanied by a constructed metal sculpture by myself that projected digitally remade versions of every painting Moon produced between 1964 and 1968. Entitled 'Didactic Sculpture: Middle Class Anglo Saxon,' this work referred in part to Moon’s employment as a tutor in the Sculpture Department at St. Martin’s School of Art between 1963 and 1973.

For the exhibition at Large Glass, I curated a selection of Jeremy Moon drawings. The aim was to establish a typology through which Moon’s drawing practice could be interpreted, and in order to do so it featured a wide range of material. Some the artist considered finished works, while others were taken from a large archive of preparatory sketches that have not been exhibited previously. Others came from a drawn inventory of completed paintings Moon kept primarily as a factual record of his activity.
