Abstract: | My presentation connected the Personal Colour Guides produced by Bernat Klein in 1965 to the colour theories of Michel Chevreul, chemist and one-time Director of the Gobelins Manufactory in Paris via the work of Georges Seurat. It considered the particular role that colour played in the construction of Klein’s artistic persona and the way that he used it to position himself as a design consultant rather than purely a textile designer/manufacturer. | ||||
