Go Woman Go! is a collaboration between British artist Laura Aldridge and women in Abuja, with the aim of strengthening textile, printmaking and ceramic traditions in Nigeria. The project is part of The British Council project UK/Nigeria 2015–16.
Go Woman Go! culminates in two public exhibitions in Nigeria during 2016. The first exhibition takes the form of a building wrap that covers a public building with a unique textile pattern, made possible with the support of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. This large-scale installation raises awareness around opportunities to display work in public spaces and also increase access to the arts for people who would not traditionally visit art spaces. The second exhibition is a ceramic installation in House 33 in Abuja, presenting vessels commissioned from the female ceramicists in Giri to designs created by Aldridge.
