Solo exhibition of collaborative works by Ross Birrell and David Harding. New installation of video, light and sound works which were first exhibited together in Winter Line, Kunsthalle Basel, Jan-Mar 2014.

Taking its title from Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem ‘To Music’, Where language ends (Talbot Rice Gallery (2015) is an exhibition of works produced over a 10-year collaboration with the artist David Harding, former Head of Sculpture and Environmental Art and GSA.

The exhibition features site-specific films, sculptural objects, sound work, prints and coloured window installations. Through video and installations we weave complex layers of history into poetic acts of translation and transposition. As with Winter Line, in Where language ends music plays a central role.

For the occasion of the exhibition, I composed a work for piano, violin and cello,also titled, Where language ends, and performed in the gallery by the DaVinci Trio.
