This building was commissioned by Glasgow School of Art as a new school of design .
We collaborated with Steven Holl architects from New York and won the project in an international competition in 2009 .In 2013 we aim to complete the building
Part of the design challenge is to make something new in the context of the A listed Mackintosh building .
The new building is seen as a complimentary contrast and is structures vertically around a series of studio volumes that are based on the volume and dimension of the original studios in the Mack.
The new building plays with the channelling of light into the studios and driven voids of light brig light and air deep into the section .
The section is both simple and complex as the sun rotates around the building light and shadow fill the building creating different moods and atmospheres .
Our studio although heavily involved throughout the process have a particular interest in the design in detail of the project.
