Abstract: | This presentation used rich visual documentation to share ideas about interaction through a new learning and teaching development: 'SEA Islands'. This extends the notion of how we might move the terrain of the studio from within the institution to adjoining and distant locations and explore how and why we might interact with others on the ‘island’ to realize new learning possibilities. Through two examples of course developments - one involving UG student placements and off-site works negotiated within the spaces and audiences of a large urban public Park; the other placing PG students in a new cross disciplinary centre for the creative industries. The presentation encouraged discussion around key questions such as: How courses respond to the needs of a new generation of student? How do we work with others to enable greater fluidity between experiences – school FE, cultural organizations, students, professionals, and across diverse disciplines? Who are our potential partners? Why and how will we collaborate with them? What potential can be achieved through working in collaboration with others to create other sites and ways of learning, teaching and researching? | ||||
