Cinematographa was an evening of films and discussion highlighting the analogue camerawork of an exceptional group of intergenerational, intersectional women artists and cinematographas. Screened on 16mm, 35mm and digital formats during the Open City Documentary Film Festival (2024) at the ICA Cinema, London, the films programmed spanned multiple histories and creative practices, highlighting the technical and creative prowess of the women interviewed in my book, Cinematagrapha, published by Secession and Walther und Franz König in 2023.
I curated a selection of films by women I interviewed in my book Cinematographa. Presented during the Open City Film Festival in April 2024. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Rhea Storr, Deborah Stratman and Alia Syed expanding upon our discourse featured in the book.
