I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2000 with a BA Hons in Interior Design. Since 2013, I have been teaching on UG and PG Interior Design programmes at GSA.
My research interests are centred around my practice and previous experience in Fashion Retail Interiors, Exhibition and Experiential Brand Environments. I am interested in the evolution of Interior Design practice and how this has manifested within our everyday encounters of the built environment. The discipline of Interior Design fosters an interdisciplinary approach, which I believe challenges the boundaries of art and design via spatial interventions that confront an understanding of contemporary thresholds of what Interior Design is and can be.
My current research encompasses the themes of phenomenology, feminism and ethics within the realm of Interiors. I use interior design practice as a tool to analyse the spaces represented within film/TV and their contribution to the viewing experience. In particular my interest lies in how space creates a dialogue between fiction/reality, narrative/character and to inform, imagine and explore the interpretations of fictional spaces.
