An exhibition orchestrated by Sean Williams, an established Sheffield-based curator, featuring 25 invited artists. Each artist had previously taken part in a micro exhibition at Bloc Studios in Sheffield – which were established by Williams to offer up new dialogues between disparate approaches to contemporary painting. I was invited to exhibit one of an ongoing (at that time) series of works focused on surface, the fragment, proximity and distance. In Bits of Sellotape Left on the Wall, various ideas related to how a viewer can be ‘pulled’ toward a surface, to pause and to examine traces and remainders of pushed and pulled paint were foregrounded.
