"I Tried to Give Up Drinking with Guitars Instead of God", (Portable version)" explores the relationships between art and music. This is a new and re-imagined version of a work first explored in an exhibition at The Duchy in 2013, utilising sound and video, neon, sculpture, painting, print, photography etc.This work features an album written, recorded and produced by Sinclair and in this version augmented by videos and visual paraphernalia that animated the subjects and ideas explored in each song on the album.
Featured a performance at the opening and more planned during the span of the exhibition. Also included a new print devised and produced with the master printers at GPS especially for the show. This work is available in small, medium or large size. During the run of the exhibition Sinclair will be interviewed in the installation for for upcoming film, 'Teenage Superstars' about history of the independent music scene in Glasgow (Dir Grant McPhee) follow to Big Gold Dream which addressed the Edinburgh situation. Further performance events with poets and musicians are planned.

The catalyst for this exhibition is the Print Studio Press that operated out of Glasgow Print Studio in the late 1970s.

The Print Studio Press was a writers’ co-operative formed at Glasgow Print Studio in late 1977 by a group of six members: Liz Lochhead, Tom Leonard, Tom Buchan, Jim Kelman, Alastair Gray and James Taylor. The Print Studio Press included a number of emerging names, publishing pamphlets in limited editions of 600. These included short fiction by James Kelman, poetry from Liz Lochead and plays by Tom Leonard. Alan Spence's Glasgow Zen and Alasdair Gray's The Comedy of The White Dog were also first published at GPS.
Trigger Words features a group of artists each of whom have created work that is inspired by or somehow relates or develops from Scottish literature of their choosing.
