A performance/video screening I made as part of a multi art form presentation with Edinburgh's Neu! Reekie! Taking place pretty much throughout July, Anywhere but the cities was a series of 16 shows in 21 days. Found and Neu! Reekie are at the centre of the Dewars-sponsored tour, which saw a variety of guests roll up, whisky in hand, in various small-to-medium towns across Scotland. King Creosote, Eugene Kelly, Sexual Objects, Ross Sinclair, Alan Bissett, Liz Lochhead, Aidan Moffat and Withered Hand are some of the acts who will take in Stonehaven, Durness (possibly in a cave), Helensburgh, Hawick, Orkney, Thurso, and even places that we’re not sure where they are like Craigellachie, as well as a final night in the more familiar Linlithgow Palace. We do like a tour that take in some of the further-flung musical outposts, so this sounds ideal.

There is now a film of the tour, ready for release, "Come and join Neu! Reekie! for a night of film, spoken word and live music from River of Slime, Eyes of Others and Eugene Kelly (The Vaselines) as we celebrate the unveiling of what went down, on the road, during the Anywhere But The Cities tour of Summer 2015.

Filmed by John Bryden and edited by Andy McGregor, the ABTC film brings together 16 Shows, 22 Days, 30 Artists (or thereabouts) all into one bite-sized portion. Starring some of Scotland's finest artists. Who? You'll have to wait and see."
