Abstract:

The essay draws on and consolidates the motivations and methodology around a body of practice that is centred around walking, talking and making. Discussing at length the Psychic Dérive – where participants are invited to cross the city (Glasgow) in a time-travelling, forensic foray into the traces of transient artworks from the past, negotiating a way of remembering and re-activating the 'experience' of site-specific and moment-specific works and secret history that shouldn’t be forgotten.
The essay reflects on why a work by Ross Sinclair is a central subject of this Psychic Dérive.
