Scottish Book Week event at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

RBGE botanist and author Greg Kenicer will be in conversation with visual artist and writer Amanda Thomson about their shared interest in plant names and lore. Join us for this special event, which includes an audience Q&A and the opportunity to purchase books by the authors and have them signed. This event is British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted.

Amanda Thomson is a visual artist, writer, and lecturer at the Glasgow School of Art. She is interested in how we are located (and locate ourselves) in the world, notions of space and place, and ideas of belonging. A lot of her work is about nature, flora and fauna, and rooted in the highlands of Scotland, where she is happiest.

Greg Kenicer is the author of Scottish Plant Lore, Plant Magic and Scottish Plant Names. A botanist and tutor at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, he has inspired learners of all ages for 20 years. He has published numerous scientific papers on the evolution and diversity of peas and beans, but his heart also lies with the fantastic relationships between plants and people."
