Abstract:

The article is a discussion of the old town of Elbląg in northern Poland, built 13th-18th centuries, comprehensively destroyed in 1945, rebuilt as an interpretative reconstruction 1983-2020s, as a building project that is both historic and postmodern, both a part of the city's early modern heritage and a product of the late socialist period.
