The 'Eye of the Storm: Academic Symposium of the work of the Scottish Landscape Painter James Morrison' explored contemporary and historic landscape painting in relation to Scottish and Chinese landscape.

Marianne Greated's focussed on sustainability in the landscape and how this is manifest in contemporary art making and practice. She presented her landscape painting, and contextualised it within current landscape practices, and in relation to James Morrison's approach to working in the environment.

The seminar was held in relation to the premier of Eye of the Storm, a new biographic film of the Scottish landscape painter, James Morrison. It included a range of international scholars including, Prof. Shangying Liu (Chair), Prof. John Morrison, Ms. Christina Jansen, Dr. Marianne Greated, Prof.Yiyang Shao and Prof. Yong Qiu.

The symposium was funded by the British Council and held at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in collaboration with The Scottish Gallery and the Glasgow School of Art.
