This talk on landscape, people and place reflected on the significance of language and the words we use to describe where we are, how places are conceived and how language connects us to previous generations and ways of live. Rooted in my book "A Scots Dictionary of Nature' the conversation was part of SEALL's festival of Small Halls, an eight-day multi-artform winter festival bringing big music to small halls around Skye and Lochalsh with the emphasis on civic celebration. People, place and performance are the curatorial themes of the Festival, which focuses on “family bonds” in the wider sense and promotes the relevance of Scotland’s traditional culture to present and future generations.
