The ocean plays a critical role in climate stability, supports diverse ecosystems, and is vital for the well-being of our planet and its inhabitants. Yet, these scientific realities are often too complex and inaccessible to the broader public. Through a series of interactive engagements, ocean scientists and student artists from the Glasgow School of Art co-created ocean solutions and narratives by translating complex concepts into tangible art pieces. Through mixed-media experimentation, and collaborative storytelling, participants generated visual narratives that blended data-driven insights with creative interpretation. Blending artists and scientists offers an opportunity to explore how artistic collaboration can transform ocean and climate science into compelling narratives and visual forms that engage, educate, and inspire action. This work also demonstrates the potential of art-science partnerships to accelerate communication, foster interdisciplinary networks, and empower communities to imagine and take part in sustainable ocean solutions and narratives. Next steps include curating these works for public exhibition and exploring digital platforms for ongoing collaboration.
