WILD Film is the video outcome and an act of collective creation from a knowledge exchange and filmmaking education project initiated by Stirling Council in partnership with Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The project was conceived, designed and delivered by artist filmmakers Kimberley O’Neill, Duncan Marquiss and Jen Martin. The project was funded by Screen Scotland as part of their film education fund. WILD Film was made in collaboration with Stirling Young Filmmakers, a group of 8 filmmakers aged between 13-15 year old, and was produced over the course of 12 filmmaking workshops delivered between February to June 2025 focusing on documentary and nature filmmaking skills. The project posed the question, ‘could filmmaking help to create a sense of belonging for young people in the natural environment during the climate emergency? Through documentary and nature documentary strategies Stirling Young Filmmakers asked questions about the significance of humans in the natural world? what can be done to restore the damage of the climate crisis? and do the myths of nature documentaries cause more harm than good? Whilst filming in the Lomond and Trossachs National Parks the young filmmakers developed skills working with camera, sound and interviewing subjects, through documenting conservation projects in the including reforesting and peat bog restoration. They also filmed their own wild life footage across Stirling, finding new ways to experience nature through the act of recording. WILD film presents the Young Filmmakers developing perspectives on the natural world around them whilst also providing a document of the project and the collaboration.

The video has been screened at a Showcase event at Tollbooth in Stirling and at Callander Adventure Film Festival. It has been submitted to Prescience International Film Festival, Festival International Natur Namur, Rotterdam Wild Life Film Festival, ONA short Film Festival Venice and Films for the Art Winterthur for future screenings.
