| Abstract: | Letterpress prints and holly wood round. Preliminary prints and small typographic sculpture from the project Scottish Gaelic: Uncovering and Promoting Visual Identity through Print and Book Culture. This practical aspect of the project is focussed on exploring the value of materiality to the language through the identification, manufacture and use of traditional print equipment for use with the Scottish Gaelic language. The left-hand print BÀTA (a boat) uses a prototype 'floating' grave accent created in the development of a Gaelic wooden type conversion kit for traditional letterpress printing poster types. |
