An ongoing series (2025 -) of drawings onto clothing, specifically the interior or exterior of T-shirts, emanating from the heart area.
Output Type:
Artefact
Additional Information:
The T-shirt drawings (in pencil or charcoal pencil) reference the rays of light seen in images of 'The Sacred Heart of Jesus' (flaming heart, thorns, wound) - an image familiar to each of us from our individual (yet shared) family Catholic heritage/upbringing. They also refer to a wound or point of entry (eg. bullet hole, residue) as well as signifying energy from the heart itself (life, love). They are drawn either as an outward symbol on the garment or a more intimate placement against the body itself, where the drawing directly touches the skin when worn. We propose to show/wear these as potential works but currently they have been shared on our Instagram art account @studiosmithstewart. NB:We utilise Instagram as an online disssemination platform for sharing work (including otherwise unseen works &/or works in development in the studio) alongside excerpts/images of existing, exhibited artworks.
