This speculative research project explores the incidence of seal sightings on the urban Clyde. I’m interested in peoples connections to nature and place and see these events as interesting and important human/animal, animal/animal encounters. Recent sightings have occurred quite far upstream near Dalmarnock causing much interest from locals.

In order to collect images, video footage and stories relating to seal sightings I created a series of public information posters with QR codes which enable uploads to an online platform where this material can be viewed and shared. There is also the potential to use this material for future publication and dissemination through exhibition for example. The online platform itself exists as a space for shared dialogue and information exchange. Further research might involve mapping sightings through visual mapping.
