This has given me the opportunity to undertaken design research on a variety of themes from projects focusing on innovating ways of working through Nursing Records and Open Innovation which explored the challenges of record keeping and considered new ways of keeping nursing records that are accessible and valuable; Person Centred Records which explored the potential of a multi-disciplinary, in-patient electronic working in NHS Grampian; to sensitive contexts such as Ritual Respect which explored emotional support for women around miscarriage; and fostered a research interest in the role of ethics in design research through developing a project entitled Ethics by Design which aimed to explore and make visible the implicit ethical considerations underpinning the ethical practices within design research and argues the importance of balancing risk with creativity in order to innovate in complex contexts. Recent projects have included supporting the co-design and implementation of R&D service models and digital tools as part of the Rural Centre for Excellence.
