Abstract: | Scottish textiles currently have a dynamic and exciting relationship with international fashion. New ideas that are worn from the catwalk to the high street are often generated by Scottish-based designers and companies. However, the important contributions of textile firms to garments are often anonymous and unacknowledged. This exhibition celebrates the vibrant creativity and manufacturing expertise that continue to make Scottish textiles popular around the world. This display includes work by Vivienne Westwood, Dries van Noten, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Jean Paul Gaultier. It shows that along with their important role as symbols of Scottish identity, tartan, tweed and Scottish knitwear have long been associated with international fashion. | ||||
