Abstract: | We look back at postmodernism as the architecture of consumerism, the architecture of neo-liberalism an unbridled market economy, of colourful vanities and plays with historical forms that are no longer venerated. But the postmodern period was also connected with one of the most fundamental themes of our current era: the realization that the earth’s resources are limited and that the unsustainable Western lifestyle economies may lead to global disaster. The presentation connects the two themes, tying them to examples in Germany, the UK, Austria, the Netherlands and other countries. | ||||||
