Abstract:

The first lecture sets out a theoretical framework linking place theory, and urban design theories with the history of public health policies and Aaron Antonovsky's salutogenic model of health promotion. The second talk adopts this salutogenic framework to discuss the impact on older people's wellbeing of everyday uses of Edinburgh local high streets based on the findings of recent empirical research.
