The ‘Vortex’ brooch has been exhibited at The Saatchi Gallery, London for ‘Collect’ (22 - 25 February 2018), ‘Heroes’ Exhibition during International Jewellery Week, Munich (8 - 11 March 2018) and ‘Goldsmiths’ Fair ‘ London (1-7 October 2018) where it received the ‘Best New Design Award’ during week two of the exhibition.

The ‘Vortex’ brooch expands on my ongoing research interests surrounding traditional silver and goldsmithing practices that date back thousands of years. A handling session at the Museum of London to examine key historical pieces had initially triggered a body of work (in precious metal alloys, red white yellow gold and silver) titled ‘Fibonacci’ series, exhibited at Contemporary Applied Art in 2017. I wanted enlarge the scale of these pieces and adapt further innovative techniques influenced by the ancient art of filigree to explore pattern and colour. In addition I have explored titanium and its properties such as high tensile strength to density ratio allowing me to construct larger, light and stable pieces when combined with gold and silver wire.
