Lecture on letterpress printing as a contemporary art and design process with a focus on book related practice based projects produced during my time as designer in Residence in the Caseroom, Glasgow School of Art

Now in its third year, BOOKMARKS provides a stimulating platform for visitors to discover artists’ books and zines made by practitioners from across Scotland. Exploring the artists’ book in its broadest sense, BOOKMARKS is a first stop for those interested in bookmaking as an artistic practice. BOOKMARKS book fair will run from 4–8 pm, with talks taking place from 1–3pm.

BOOKMARKS focuses on academic study, exploring how artists’ books are used, promoted and created in educational settings. Featured artists and designers will include students, staff and alumni from Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), alongside those from other educational institutions in Scotland.

BOOKMARKS begins with a symposium running from 1-3pm, open to all participants and visitors where a wide range of speakers will make presentations detailing different aspects of the book through featured projects. Following this, from 4-8pm, the fair will offer visitors the chance to see and handle the work, meet the artists and designers and purchase an exciting array of artists’ books and zines.

This year, The Grey People, a student lead initiative, are collaborating with BOOKMARKS. They provide a platform for students to celebrate their work as interdisciplinary, either in its own right or in collaboration with others. In conjunction with BOOKMARKS they have curated an exhibition of artists’ books selected from Edinburgh College of Art Library collection that is on display in ECA library 14th March – 3rd April. They have also arranged an exhibition of work from students across ECA that will be shown in ECA Sculpture Court 28th March – 3rd April and which emphasizes BOOKMARKS commitment to encouraging students across Art and Design to create meaningful dialogues.
